Ramón Gómez Cornet

The author
Di Paola was born in San Isidro, province of Buenos Aires, in 1932. Since she was 16 has been working in fine arts, such as paintings, ceramic, decorative arts, and sculpture. From the days of youth she has also written poems in Spanish.

About what she tries to communicate through her artwork, we can say that she combines an intellectual lyricism and a certain visual grace, prevailing a vegetable freshness.

What is the girl thinking dressing in rosa
just to rest to be painted in a picture?
The riblon glides like a wing,
and it takes braided hair behind.

I am looking for your afternoon face,
perhaps I know why;
I can see the realism in her black eyes
wishing lasting.

Sutil palatte from Europe, (the painter brought with him)
lines, space, pride (high minded);
but when he came back to his country,
he faced his own mirror again.

The artist painted blind windows
bricks made of soil and grass;
and just was born a new line
hidden on reality.

The street is the children poem
patienly the street saw her came back;
she carried a pottery with water from the fountain
like in the picture by Gómez Cornet.

Someone in a picture is sat and barefoot
and the pebbles are rolling;
but the forms are glowing
polished by stones and salt.

Ramón Gómez Cornet Note:
The Argentinean painter Ramón Gómez Cornet was born in Santiago del Estero in 1898, and he died in Buenos Aires in 1964. He completed his artistic career in Europe. The artist kept a colloquial style in his pictures and was able to communicate a vibrant feeling through a thin line; he stroked the canvas with each touch of color. Gómez Cornet found in his home town that unique magic naturalism that he was able to capture.
